Tentacle Shot is a Weapon Mod in Remnant: From the Ashes. Weapon Mods are components that grant active abilities which can be used in and out of combat. These Mods provide a variety of effects including dealing damage, healing, buffing players and more. Most Mods can be freely slotted in and out of standard Weapons, while the unique Boss Weapons have their own Mods that cannot be removed. Weapon Mod abilities require Mod Power to use, which is generated by attacking enemies.

Remnant Tentacle Shot Mod Information

Tentacle Shot is a Summon type Intrinsic Mod attached to the Curse of the Jungle God boss weapon. It serves as an alternate firing mode for the Curse of the Jungle God handgun, firing a projectile and creating a Tentacle where it lands. The mod stores up to 2 Charges, and the caster can summon up to two Tentacles at any one time. Attempting to summon more than two will replace one of the Tentacles currently deployed, but this also serves to essentially refresh their duration.

When the mod is activated, the Curse of the Jungle God's targeting reticle changes to a grenade-launcher type and the Tentacle Shot can then be aimed and shot manually with the fire button. Tentacles will smack opponents that get near them, dealing 75 Shock Damage, and applying the Overloaded effect to enemies struck. Tentacles also have a Lifesteal effect that heals the caster for 1.25% of their max Health per strike. They can also cause Overloaded enemies to detonate, dealing damage in an area.

Tentacle Shot works quite well when placed in strategic locations. They attack frequently and the healing component is useful for survival. However, they lack range and the ability to move with the caster. The mod is best used alongside other sources of Shock Damage such as Storm Caller, in order to setup and trigger Overloaded explosions which can clear rooms very quickly. It is also effective against enemies that don't move much, if at all.

Tentacle Shot Mod Properties

  • The damage dealt by each Tentacle is affected by the Curse of the Jungle God's weapon level, with each level granting +12.5 damage. At Weapon Level 10Tentacles deal 200 damage per hit.
  • Tentacle Shot's damage is further affected by Mod Damage bonuses, such as those granted by the Evocation trait, and as a Summon, it also benefits from the Invoker Trait.
  • Shock Damage is considered Elemental Damage and is therefore affected by the Wisdom Trait and other similar effects.  It can also be improved with the Storm Amulet, which specifically boosts Shock Damage. Note that Elemental Damage bonuses are not reflected in the weapon mod's description in the menu, but are included in the damage calculation.
  • The Lifesteal effect is improved by Healing Effectiveness effects, such as those granted by the Triage Trait.
  • Using the Soul Link ring adds a second instance of Lifesteal equivalent to 5% of the damage dealt by each Tentacle per hit.
  • Tentacle duration is affected by Mod Duration bonuses, such as those granted by the Concentration Trait and the Cultist's Armor Set's bonus.

How to Obtain Tentacle Shot in Remnant: From the Ashes

Tentacle Shot is an Intrinsic Mod belonging to the Curse of the Jungle God and cannot be removed.

The Curse of the Jungle God is a Boss Weapon that can be crafted by McCabe in Ward 13 by providing her with the following materials:

  • Tentacle Pod - Obtained by defeating The Ravager, one of the two World Bosses found in Yaesha. Playing the lullaby on the bells (alternate win method) will cause the Ravager to turn friendly and will grant the Stalker's Claw instead.
  • Lumenite Crystal x 7 - Obtained by defeating Elite enemies which spawn randomly throughout the overworld and in dungeons.

Anyone know what the overload scaling is like on this? Eye of the storm does the courtesy of telling us how much damage the overload explosion does, but I don't think it's consistent between weapons? I will test it and get back here eventually, once I gather and max both curse of the jungle god and voice of the tempest, and will test with both storm amulet and Vulcan detonator

"Using this mod while there are already 2 Tentacles on the battlefield will replace the least one deployed."

This should be fixed (by someone that knows the mechanic, I haven't used yet). Should be "last one deployed" or "first one deployed", not least. Useful info completely nullified by the typo (it happens!)

I'd offer a revision myself, but new to game and haven't used this yet so dunno which one gets overwritten.

it seems like 3 tentacles are max or its bugged..trying to summon more than 3 will just leave the ground effect but it wont summon an extra. also if you try to shoot the tentacle shot directly at an enemy the shot will do nothing and wont spawn a tentacle. id like to add that this mod has small downside..the tentacle can knockback enemies when they hit knocking them away and pushing em out of the attack range of the tentacle which is a bummer.
