Seed Caller is a Weapon Mod in Remnant: From the Ashes. Weapon Mods are components that grant active abilities which can be used in and out of combat. These Mods provide a variety of effects including dealing damage, healing, buffing players and more. Most Mods can be freely slotted in and out of standard Weapons, while the unique Boss Weapons have their own Mods that cannot be removed. Weapon Mod abilities require Mod Power to use, which is generated primarily by attacking enemies.

Remnant Seed Caller Mod Information

Seed Caller is a Summon type mod that calls forth friendly Root Hollows that will fight alongside you for a duration. The mod stores 2 Charges, and the caster can summon up to two Hollows to fight for them at any one time. Attempting to summon more than 2 will replace one of the Hollows currently deployed, but this also serves to essentially refresh their duration.

Each Hollow is a melee-based creature that will actively seek and attack Enemies within the vicinity, dealing a base damage of 50 per hit. This damage is affected by the level of the Weapon that the mod is equipped in, increasing the Hollows' damage by +5 per weapon level, up to a maximum total of 150 damage at Weapon Level 20.

The Hollows' damage is further affected by several factors:

  • Mod Damage effects such as those provided by the Evocation Trait.
  • Summon Damage effects such as those provided by the Invoker Trait.
  • Both of the above effects stack for Summon-type mods, granting a total of +35% damage from the Traits alone when both are maxed.

The Hollows' duration is affected by the Mod Duration effect, such as those provided by the Concentration Trait and the Cultist's Armor Set's bonus.

Seed Caller is moderately useful in dungeon settings, but is otherwise outclassed by other summons such as the Very Good Boy and Beckon mods, the former being much more powerful, and the latter being airborne and ranged. The Hollows summoned by Seed Caller also tend to die more easily, particularly to AoE and cleaving attacks. There are some very good uses for the Mod, however. Using the Soul Link ring offers very good healing whenever the Hollows attack, which is quite frequently. Combining this further with the Beckon mod makes for an effective build against many encounters, by merit of overwhelming with numbers.

Do note that the Hollows summoned by Seed Caller are identical to the Hollow opponents found on Earth, which can result in accidentally shooting your own companions or failing to dodge hostile Hollows charging at you.

When me and my friend moved up to nightmare I started having issues with the dog and beckon I was using. Dog still good depending on where you are but on Corsus he was struggling(lots of missing the smaller mobs and very low damage on most of the elites there). But these little bastards when I tried them were doing half decent. The major issue is their leaping attack blocking shots(and dying to my or my friends FF when they leap in the way) and it just straight up misses 30% of the time. If only they had a dashing attack instead of leaping, it would make a MASSIVE difference.

Melee life steal from the Leech Ember ring and Twisted Armor set no longer applies to melee hits done by the root hollows as of the latest patch.

As in most RPGs, they have trouble balancing summonings in higher difficulty. I'm not even sure they should have a healthpool. Damn near nothing boosts their damage, and having it be taken away at random because of them taking hits, which you can't control, just make them dysfunctional in most circumstances. Then you have the opposite extreme, where they take none, last the full duration ... and even then barely competes due to the summon cap lol.

          • I'm pretty sure this is bugged when it comes to certain enemies. I used this during the Singe boss fight and all they did was stand under his chest and do nothing. They didn't attempt to attack him at all.

If anyone out there is wondering about making an afk minion build, it seems that nothing can increase the damage except the level of the attached weapon. That means there is no trait, ring, amulet etc. that will boost dmg, atk spd or anything else.
