Effect

Generates a 5 meter impenetrable energy field. Heroes standing inside the energy field can shoot outward. Lasts 10 seconds.

Veil of the Black Tear is a Weapon Mod in Remnant: From the Ashes. Veil of the Black Tear is Craftable Item. Weapon Mods are categorized as active abilities that provide both offensive and defensive effects to a player or to a team which can be used in battle. Weapon Mods can be found in various ways such as boss drops, given by NPCs, sold by a Merchant, and can also be crafted.

Veil of the Black Tear Notes & Tips

  • Field duration increases with the weapon's level, up to 15 seconds, and is affected by Mod Duration.
  • Blocks projectiles and explosives, but not beam attacks (like Ixillis' one).
  • Players can NOT shoot inward the field from outside.
  • Two different weapon mods can be equipped at the same time, one for the Long Gun and one for the Hand Gun.
  • Players can change these on the fly by opening up the character menu and choosing which Mod they'd prefer.
  • Weapon Mods cannot be used all the time, but instead, players will need to replenish the gauge by shooting enemies with the firearm that has the mod in order to re-activate the ability.

      Not as useful as it may seem. Players still can pass through it, but also some enemy attacks just ignore it.
      Beam or laser attacks will hit you anyway. Also it does not recharge while it's active.

        Since Flicker Cloak was giganerfed, Veil is now a much more attractive defensive mod than it was before. Flicker still has the benefit of following the caster and blocking melee hits in addition to ranged, but Veil is just better at doing its job, and can be used to assist teammates in a smoother fashion.
        The duration buff (min 10s, max 15s) was also nice, as before the duration was so low that it was difficult to take advantage of.

          Very good niche mod. It can really save your life in some situations and boss battles. Exempli gratia: against Claviger, you can block most of the boss and minions' attacks. Against Ixillis, you can block the glowing homing orbs as well the corrosive bomb attacks (although you still have to keep an eye out for the melee strikes and laser beams).

            Very cool ability, very awkward to use though. Requires a very hefty amount of mod power to activate and you can only hold one charge. On top-end weapons it lasts just over 10 seconds. Don't get me wrong, 10-ish seconds of total invulnerability to ranged attacks is pretty huge for some bosses, but in general you'll find Flicker Cloak is easier to use and more reliable defensively. Flicker Cloak blocks melee attacks, moves with you, lasts longer, and doesn't require as much mod power to activate.

              His balls are more like minions, so Rattle Weed is more suitable, but i found Iron Sentinel to work just as well

                This doesn't seem to work against Ixillis' magic ball projectiles. Not sure if it's a bug or what. Pretty frustrating though....
