Remnant: From the Ashes Lore focuses on the story and setting of the game. Set in a timeline where the world has been thrown into chaos, humanity struggles to survive by uncovering the root of evil and fighting countless creatures to carve out a foothold for mankind to rebuild before it's too late.

Remnant: From the Ashes Lore

For nearly a millennium, an unknown race called The Root traveled from one realm to another
to wreak destruction and to conquer everything and everyone it comes to contact with.

During their mission of dominating realms, they stumbled upon the realm of Rhom where they faced a never-ending battle between the civilization of Rhom.
Eventually, they were able to conquer Rhom, but the states of Rhom came together which included The Basha and their spiritual leader The Nui,
stood their ground and did what they can to fight The Root.

At the brink of losing the war, Ezlan, a mysterious Basha was forced to pick
a  tragic decision of either falling into the hands of The Root or to save their realm by decimating both its people and The Root.

Despite having no other options, the choice was very much clear... In order to save their civilzation and for the next centuries to come,
The Nui and The Basha activated a nuclear device which obliterated the people of Rhom and The Root.

This caused the surviving Root to abandon Rhom and tried to search for another realm to conquer...
Where they found and invaded Earth.

For quite a long time, Earth has been thrown into destruction where
The Root has annihilated almost half of humanity and has almost fully taken control of the planet.

Despite the carnage, humankind has not given up with reclaiming what's theirs.
Multiple facilities called a "Ward" with designated numbers was then built across the planet,
but Ward 13 is the sole facility which houses a technology they've acquired and experiments on called a World Stone.

A small piece of the World Stone was then sent to each ward for further studies.
With the World Stone, the surviving humans have discovered that the World Stone can open up portals to other realms...

This lead to the attention of The Root who wishes to stop the humans from using the world stone to travel to different realms
and to stop their mission from finding the source that can possibly destroy The Root.

Ezlan isnt a Basha he is a "Nui" thats their word for a world walker... the root didnt "find earth and invade it" it was harsgaard using dreamers to connect to a world already overrun with root, then they contacted him and Harsgaard "opened the door" for the root to enter... this is written like the root just rocked up and were like "oh hey look at this a new world..."

Earth is the core of the multiverse and doesnt need a guardian, it was protected by the root and they found it by looking the "windows" (the dreamers) and then Harsgaard opened the "door" in ward prime...

"Despite the carnage, humankind has not given up with reclaiming what's theirs.
Multiple facilities called a "Ward" with designated numbers was then built across the planet, <Wards were build before they even discovered other relms or the root!
but Ward 13 is the sole facility which houses a technology they've acquired and experiments on called a World Stone." <also incorrect... Ward 17 and Ward Prime also housed world stones that were dug up while excivating the Labarynth gates and doing experiments with the Dreamers on Psychic powers... Jesus... in this hard to read...
This is written like a bad fanfic... this is NOT correct!

Please go and actually read the journals and computers and even go play chronos, Spoilers Chronos is the first game and remnant is the sequel...
There is a lot of lore you just wont understand or get in remnant unless youve played Chronos... like who the devourer is, and the identity of the dreamer at the end of remnant...

Sorry about the first draft is was rushed a bit and has few errors this one is expressing what want say better : [There was a note I read in the swamp left by a passing traveler, It gave me a theory on how about the root escaped the annihilation in Rhom and how earth got involved in this whole chaos, the note said " We thought they were windows, they were doors'' So my guess is that earthlings might be experimenting with the world stone while the root having their final battle against he Nui and The Basha, intentionally or accidentally the humans opens the gate to Rohm which led some root to escape the nuclear annihilation and start their domination in earth, also note that the undying king said the root has to be invited some how, maybe the opening the world stone door the the root served as invitation? and the last piece of evidence in this theory is the the world stone was treated as dangerous relic that brought about the Apocalypse ( Aka inviting the root in our realm) I believe that's the reason why when we first arrived the world stone was deactivated and locked with some contraption, behind a security protocol that only can be accessed using the founder key (the founder title/ position in that era is something similar to a president or a king). I'm still playing the game yet so I'll update if I find any additional bits of lore. :) ]

While I love this game, I do not know why there are so many down votes for saying the story is lackluster. The gameplay is awesome, but you could just as easily find the founder in some dungeon on earth locked up by his daughter and you will miss nothing from the story. The story is like the game design, just a bunch of randomly generated events with no connection to one another. Seriously, why do I want to get to this Island so bad? What and where is this dragon and how did I get its heart to heal me throughout the game? Why is the dreamer completely unprotected? All you do is get a key to fight the next baddie with very little, if any, context.

Actually, the Wards studied the crystals and the people form the same island as your character, for they had some sort of connection that given them the ability to wander around diffrent worlds. Eventually they f*cked up and one of them connected the crystal to one of the dreamers creating permanent portal for the Root to pass trough. That's where the invasion started. Because of one dip*****that thought "why not?"/ I'm not even surprised anymore.
