Strategy Writeup

Onslaught main ability is Blink. He can disappear and appear at any place on the battlefield. This can cause disorientation and lack of sustained DPS. The best strategy is trying to stay close to him, as he will focus more in his melee abilities and less in blinking. Try to dodge his melee attacks and deal as much damage as you can.

Attacks & Counters

Attack Counter
Phase 1
Blink: He can disappear and appear again at any location on the battlefield Try to stay close to him as he tends to blink less often
Three hit combo: It can perform a three hit melee combo that has great reach Try to dodge backwards two times and use the opportunity to attack him
Blink and strike: He can blink and appear striking you. Try to dodge backwards as soon as he appears.
Leap attack: He can leap at you attacking with his weapon Dodge to either side and attack him

I find him relatively easy when I do melee. Using smolder (fire sword), razorstone, leech ember, and abrasive amulet. Used full akari set and easily dodged his attacks. Shot down adds with ricochet rifle and very good boy. Also this was on nightmare difficulty. Good luck everyone.

Status effect weapons are super useful here. Set him on fire and then get away from him. Rinse and repeat.

Got to add that the boss can go invisible in between blinks. It doesn't happen every time i fight onslaught but can confirmed that it happens in apocalyse mode and can happen as early as phase 1. As far as i can tell its random. Counter: Use mods that can deal bleed or burn such as devastator gun or hotshot mod and pay attention to the blink sound before dodging. Swarm is also a good alternative. Lol I legit thought it was a bug/glitch at first but after months of playing and no fix i realised it can't be cuz the game devs would have fixed it by now. It does make for an interesting mechanic tho when a boss can teleport and go invisible at the same time especially when ur in a public game and the boss decides to switch to you or ur teammate all of a sudden. Hilarious as you dont know what hit u. Its really funny. Seriously game devs its really funny.

After going through fog gate I immediately stop behind it. Boss came directly to me but he couldn't deal any damage to me. So I stand there continiously shooting in his face and got him first try. Of course a bug or glitch but cannot tell if this works everytime.

For the first chunk of the fight for me, dude just teleported in place. Crazy fast, but he wasn't really moving. I was beginning to wonder if he even attacked or just bamfed around waiting for the adds to kill me. Then in the last stretch, he just spammed teleport shockwaves and teleport hammer sweeps from behind really annoyingly fast. Not difficult by any means, but he's like swatting a fly.

I dont know if it was a cheese or a glitch but i got to a small hill on the right side of the map with 2 forked stick, tree looking things and once he blinked across from me he just continued to alternate between 2, sometimes 3 spots. He did it insanely fast but it just turned into a shooting gallery, he didn't attack at all.
