Brudvaak, the Rider and Vargr, the Warg Strategies
Strategy Writeup
Phase 1
When the fight starts Brudvaak will be riding Vargr. The best strategy is focusing on one of them first and then defeat the other one. You'll get a different material depending on who you kill first.
Its easier to focus on Brudvaak first, since he won't be able to hide during the fight. Make sure to aim for his chest all the time. When they get close enough make ready to perform a dodge and avoid the damage.
When either of the Healthbars drop to 75% Brudvaak will jump to the battlefield and Vargr will hide underneath the ground.
Phase 2
Try to stay as far away as you can and aim for Brudvaak's chest. He can perform a series of ranged attacks but they are slow providing you a lot of time to dodge them.
After some time you'll notice Vargr beneath your feet and she will come out of the ground. She will perform a couple of attacks and hide again.
After this sequence is complete Brudvaak will mount Vargr once again going back to phase 1.
Phase 3
When you defeat either of them, the other one will enrage.
Brudvaak will become faster and his weapon will be imbued with Frostbite damage. Like phase 1, try to stay as far away as you can and aim for his chest.
Vargr will also gain frostbite damage and she will become much faster. She will still hide in the ground and come out to attack you. She is very fast and will occasionally run in circles around the battlefield. Use this opportunity to aim for her tail.

Siege Attack: Brudvaak will call a siege attack and projectiles will fall on top of your location dealing damage | Try to run in a wide circle around the battlefield to avoid the damage |
Leap Weapon Attack: Brudvaak will jump forward and perform a wide attack with his weapon. | This attack has medium reach. If you stay far enough he won't reach you |
Leap Smash: He will jump towards you and slam the ground creating a big Frostbite AoE | Try to run in the opposite direction. If you can't, perform a roll to avoid the damage |
Combined Attack: Brudvaak will start shooting a volley of projectiles in a wide area in front of him while Vargr spits frostbite from her mouth | Run as far away as you can in the opposite direction. |

Why does it say the boss is optional? You cant get around fight him at all.

[Adventure Mode, Hard] There seems to be a bug when killing Brudvaak first. The fire-trails left behind by Vargr do an insane amount of ticking damage, often killing you instantly. I seriously doubt this is intended.
