Ikro, the Ice Conjurer Strategies
Strategy Writeup
There are two storm clouds that move clockwise in circles around the arena. Try to stay ahead of them, as they can deal damage in the area below them as they revolve around.
You can use the structures as cover to reload your weapons and heal, but be careful because they can be destroyed if they get enough damage.
As soon as you enter the arena, Ikro will begin by casting his Conjured Ice. You can get off some free damage into his weakpoint (head) before the Conjured Ice spawns.
When Ikro spawns small adds, make sure to defeat them as soon as possible, as he will be immune to attacks until they are defeated, similar to the elite enemies in dungeons.
When he conjures the Ice Spear he will remain stationary. If you manage to deal enough damage before he releases it he will stagger and the attack will be canceled. Another effective strategy can be to deal damage to him over the top of obstacles as he conjures, then take cover before he fires.
Attacks & Counters
Attack | Counter |
Phase 1 | |
Conjured Ice: He will summon a black ball above him that shoots Ice shards toward you at high speed, which will not stop until it is eliminated. | Make sure to attack and destroy the Conjured Ice as soon as it spawns. If you need to reload, search for cover or you won't be able to survive |
Summon Adds: He will summon adds and become invulnerable | Make sure to defeat the adds as soon as you can. Once you've dealt with them he will become vulnerable again. |
Ice Spear: He will summon a giant Ice spear and throw it towards you | This attack takes a long time. You can use the opportunity to attack his head and deal critical damage. If you deal enough damage you will stagger him preventing the attack. |
Weapon Attack: He will shoot balls from his Scepter in an arc | Try to find cover to avoid them, or dodge them |

Void armor + charcoal necklace, keeper's and gunslinger's ring, ricochet rifle with hotshot mod and machine pistol with Veil of Tears mod. Appropriate consumables before entering arena. Shot in face with the ricochet rifle with hotshot, then quickly deployed veil of tears. Continued firing with ricochet rifle. Boss died within 30 secs. Didn't even evade. This was on normal mode. Mileage may vary with different difficulties. I was very surprised how easily he died. This was supposed to be a test run after being wiped three times by this boss. It worked too well. He never spawned the minions in time before he croaked.

I have fought every boss in the game repeatedly on hardcore and this is the only one that I still feel trepidation when fighting. Obryk and Dream Eater come close but once you know what to watch out for you can manage both of those better. Ikro just has so much pressure on the player that forces you to react in very specific ways and I really agree with one of the posters below this fight 100% requires the black tear mod to beat on higher difficulties. Unlike some other posters though I think his only problematic ability is conjured ice. It has no pause in its attacks, it is not timed but rather a secondary summoned boss of its own that must be killed to stop it, and the only reliable way to destroy it is to hide behind cover and have a long range weapon that does good damage. If you run out of cover or get caught out in the open and you don't have veil of the black tear ready it is game over. Honestly this fight is only bad because of that one ability.

My tactic is that if I play multiplayer, I done my trusty Leto's Armor set, Keeper's Ring, Razorwire Necklace, Bloodletter's Insignia, Submachine Gun + Fan of Knives, Devastator, Scar of the Jungle God and I keep running in circles around him in the middle. In the middle, the storm clouds cannot reach you, and if you sprint, the Conjured Ice cannot hit you either. Just throw those Fs at Ikro, 1 Devastator F at the Ice and keep movin' (as McCabe would say)! Shoot the Devastator's main attack at the Ice! Always apply Bleeding 3 to Ikro and your HP will quickly regenerate, no matter what he throws at you! When the small rats come, switch to Submachine Gun, shoot 'em down, continue!
And one more thing: Below the stairs, where you can hide behind a makeshift wall, that breaks, if you walk to the very back, the storm clouds can't damage you.

You know what I hate?
Bosses that require you to make a VERY specific build to be remotely tolerable.
This is one of those bosses.

This is the worst boss in the whole ****ing game. He has a summoned secondary hp orb instead of it just being a timed ability that CONSTANTLY SHOOTS WITH NO WAY TO RELIABLY DODGE IT OUTSIDE OF DESTRUCTIBLE COVER. On top of that you have around 1-2 and I swear sometimes three stupid ass damaging clouds chasing you all over the arena. On top of THAT he can fire a bloody spike of ice that has practically no wind-up. ON TOP OF THAT HE CAN SUMMON MINIONS TO CHASE YOU AROUND. Last but not least he can also cause frostbite which slows EVERY damn thing you do.
This boss has TOO many mechanics active at one time for how slow your own character can be and no way to reliably fight him outside of a glass cannon build which is still liable to easily die. The people fighting him on normal difficulty need to shut the hell up.

The Ricochet Rifle essentially turns this boss into Pinwheel from Dark Souls 1 -- He'll die to a stern look.

Welp just lost my hardcore run to this guy. Turns out i shouldnt just tank the storm because that **** hurts a bit

Okay idk if this was a bug and got patched but 1: the black tear does not protect against the storm and 2: the dog seem to be to short and barely deals any damage to the boss.

Ok so I wasn’t supposed to get him in “the sundered court” then

this guy is a JOKE with black veil tear, a hotshot ricochet rifle (or any use of ricochet rifle) and Very Good Boy.... any of those will UTTERLY ERASE this chump of a boss, just be thankful when you get him instead of the Jackal in a survival run...

A tip for anyone struggling with the iceball: you can use veil of the black tear to block the icicles and completely trivialize this fight.

If you are having issues I found using hot shot to take down the orb on top works really well, takes him down in 3-4 shots, 5 tops. While you do that put a menders aura to help you with the incoming damage. You should be able to 2 - 3 phases. So make sure you charge your menders aura again before the last fase. Hot shots works really well with the hunting pistol.

By far the most annoying boss in the whole dlc. Good thing this douche is optional cause **** that fight

In the second phase when he is about to spawn another conjured ice, enough damage will stagger him and cancel the attack.
Leto's Set + Devastator + Bloodletter, 1st try.
