Armor Piercer is a Trait in Remnant: From the AshesTraits are special passive abilities tied to character progression. They provide a large variety of effects including increasing core stats, improving offensive and defensive capabilities or providing quality of life upgrades. Traits are the key to building a character in a player's preferred playstyle, allowing them to branch off from their chosen Archetype. Traits are obtained by performing certain feats, defeating certain enemies or completing objectives and quests. Each Trait can be ranked up to Level 20, further improving their effects.

Armor ain't invincible! World used to be full of armored beasts, but did that save us from the Root? No, so keep shootin'!

Remnant Armor Piercer Trait Effect Information

The Armor Piercer Trait increases damage dealt to armored sections on an enemy by 1% per Trait Point invested, up to a maximum of +20% Armor Damage at Level 20.

Some enemies don protective armor to reduce damage significantly, such as the Buri Tribesmen of Rhom, who wear thick skulls on their heads to protect from headshots. Shooting these sections will display grey damage numbers, indicating reduced damage. Armor Piercer has limited applications as you typically want to be aiming for Weak Spots or, at the very least, unarmored sections on an enemy. It can still prove useful for weapons that deal damage in a wide spread, or for those that have explosive effects such as the Sporebloom or Shotgun and other similar weapons.

Armor Piercer was added in the update preceding the release of the Subject 2923 but does not require the DLC to unlock.

How to Obtain Armor Piercer in Remnant: From the Ashes

The Armor Piercer Trait can be unlocked as follows:

  • Acquired by dealing 5,000 cumulative damage to enemy armor. This is easiest done on Rhom by shooting the skull helmets off of the Buri Tribesmen opponents.

  • Additional Notes for the Armor Piercer Trait go here.
  • All Traits can be ranked up by spending Trait Points on them. Trait Points are acquired primarily by obtaining Experience Points and leveling up. Every 1,500 Experience Points obtained grants 1 Trait Point.
  • Trait Points can also be acquired by finding and picking up Tomes of Knowledge which randomly spawn in the major locations of each world.
  • Traits can be reset by using an Orb of Undoing, acquired at the end of main Campaign. After completing the Campaign, these orbs can then be purchased from Reggie in Ward 13 for 2,500 Scrap apiece.

Which enemies are considered armored? I know if the hit points when they are struck are grey it means it's hitting armor, but how often does this happen?
