Sleight of Hand is a Trait in Remnant: From the AshesTraits are special passive abilities tied to character progression. They provide a large variety of effects including increasing core stats, improving offensive and defensive capabilities or providing quality of life upgrades. Traits are the key to building a character in a player's preferred playstyle, allowing them to branch off from their chosen Archetype. Traits are obtained by performing certain feats, defeating certain enemies or completing objectives and quests. Each Trait can be ranked up to Level 20, further improving their effects.

Use what you got. Use everything you got. Only a dead fool leaves a weapon behind.

Remnant Sleight of Hand Trait Effect Information

The Sleight of Hand Trait increases the speed at which you swap between your equipped Hand Gun and Long Gun by +2.5% per Trait Point invested, up to a maximum of +50% Firearm Swap Speed at Level 20.

Sleight of Hand is generally not considered an essential Trait to unlock or level up, but can provide some benefit to Weapon Mod-reliant playstyles, due to Mods being tied to your equipped firearms. At max level, Sleight of Hand allows you to swap weapons and by extension, your equipped mods, at the drop of a hat, which can prove situationally useful.

How to Obtain Sleight of Hand in Remnant: From the Ashes

The Sleight of Hand Trait can be unlocked as follows:

  • Acquire 100 kills each, with 10 different Ranged Weapons for a total of 1,000 kills.
  • This can be difficult to acquire as there is no way to track how many kills you have with each weapon.

Remnant: From the Ashes Sleight of Hand Notes & Tips

  • Additional Notes for the Sleight of Hand Trait go here.
  • All Traits can be ranked up by spending Trait Points on them. Trait Points are acquired primarily by obtaining Experience Points and leveling up. Every 1,500 Experience Points obtained grants 1 Trait Point.
  • Trait Points can also be acquired by finding and picking up Tomes of Knowledge which randomly spawn in the major locations of each world.
  • Traits can be reset by using an Orb of Undoing, acquired at the end of main Campaign. After completing the Campaign, these orbs can then be purchased from Reggie in Ward 13 for 2,500 Scrap apiece.

"Acquire 100 kills each, with 10 different Ranged Weapons for a total of 1,000 kills." - this does not appear to be correct.

currently, this page states "Use 10 different ranged weapons to acquire 100 kills each."

i just started a fresh Earth adventure run with Mangler mini boss to test this, because 1000 kills is a lot simply for a trait, and the wording is different in the game:
"Acquired by killing 100 enemies with 10 different firearms."

Mangler's root adds have low health and spawn in waves, which gives a few seconds to swap guns. after rotating every ~10 kills through 8 long guns and 2 hand guns, the trait unlocked.

      • A 100% chance that breakable objects contribute to unlocking this trait. I didn't kill any enemies on some of the sidearms I used to unlock this trait. I just shot objects with the sidearm and enemies with my main gun. Also you can grind this while on adventure mode.

Just got this from breaking something with the Beam Rifle, so another confirmation that destroying objects with weapons seems to count as "kills".

I have to wonder at the description. Im pretty sure I havent gotten the 1000 kills total for this. Is it not 100 kills spread across 10 different guns? So even you got 100 kills on 9 weapons, all it would take is 1 kill on the 10th weapon bc its actually 100 total. I've definitely gotten kills on 10 different handguns and longuns but not 100 on all 10. Either that or its bugged or the description is just wrong.

I got the perk after shooting a couple of bookshelves. Apparently breaking things with your gun counts as "kills".

After defeating the dreamer, i went back into the area to check the dreamer's room.
Then i shot him (he is still alive, why???) and got the trait.

                ???

why would they put this kind of thing in the game but there's no stat tracking in the game? no kill counts listed on the weapons. yet another simple QOL thing that should've been in the game but they decided not to because the game was rushed and incomplete.

                  • There is a bug with this where if you play the game Co-op you must do this in your own game rather than joining another's lobby, (05/10/2020) my friend had a spreadsheet and calculated all his kills and had 100+ in 10 guns, he would not unlock the mod, once he launched his game and got 1 kill he was awarded the trait.

Can someone with the trait just go to the trait and read the description? With an xbox controller use X on the trait page, it tells you how to acquire each trait. This can solve the problem of how to achieve the trait.

Is that really important? The time it takes to switch weapons never seemed an issue to me. Am I missing something?

I can confirm that at least some of the breakables count toward this trait. Got the trait after shooting a pot, and it was at least 2 minutes since I killed an enemy.

                          • I unlocked Sleight of Hand farming the Hollows that spawn in the Mangler boss room. They spawn often and go down easily. It was during an earth adventure and I died a few times here and there; it didn't seem to affect my counts. I initially did my counts including a melee weapon by accident, but after I got one last 100 with a 10th gun it unlocked for me.

people are confusing the slight of hand with a basic trait you get when you unlock 10 guns. its reload time trait forget name. but slight of hand is gun switching time.

Are we sure it is 100 kills with 10 weapons? i have confirmed by counting my kills to make sure on 12 different weapons and i still don't have this trait. i even went to 200 kills on them just be doubly sure.

Just got this yesterday. I can definitely confirm that it doesn't have to be in just one campaign, I was in my 3rd when I got it. Thinking about what weapons I used I would say it did actually appear when I got my 100th kill with the 10th weapon (was trying to specifically get the trait, so I was counting).

Was grinding for the trait and had 9 guns that for sure had over 100 kills. I then equipped a new gun that I had never used. The very first kill with the 10th gun awarded me the trait. I had also achieved this over 2 campaigns. A good portion of my kills were in other people's campaigns. I'm not sure if my reward was glitched but I wasnt expecting to receive it.

I'm gonna go ahead and confirm this; you need a certain amount of kills with 10 different weapons. It is possible that breakable objects count towards this, as some state they've experienced, but I don't believe melee weapons count.

I acquired this from shooting pots in Rhom with a different weapon.. So maybe "hits" count towards unlocking this?

                                        • Anonymous

I think it has to do with getting kills doing damage with both weapons against the same enemy and/or swapping out an empty weapon instead of reloading. I play PVE with a personal challenge. "Realistic reload" I don't swap out mags till they're empty: shotties can be topped up etc. I got the perk and it seems to fit my play style,I still didn't get it until many many hours in though?

                                          • Anonymous

Made a point of trying kills that utilize both the handgun and the long gun on the same target and unlocked it after about five more kills.

                                            • Anonymous

This is a 2 minute clip to show that I had rerolled and my first shot "killed" a bookshelf giving me my apparent 100th kill with my 10th gun. So I guess destroyables also count towards kills and this debunks the single campaign thought people had, had.

                                              • Anonymous

The requirements for this trait is a bit over the top for something that isn't even mediocre in usefulness as you already switch weapons pretty fast to begin with. Not to mention it doesn't even fit the theme of the trait. How does shooting 100 enemies with 10 different weapons have anything to do with weapon swapping?

                                                • Anonymous

I got this perk just now during the harrow fight. I shot him with my secondary for a little, then my primary. After he left and the adds spawned, I swapped back and got it as I was shooting the adds. Maybe you get it by swapping and killing someone shortly after?

                                                  • Anonymous

It doesn’t work I should uninstall the damn game it***** bc you can’t get the *****ing trait they need to fix it or show you a progress meter

                                                    • Anonymous

I have juste count every kill with 10 differant gun, and no surprise : it's didnt work. I have kill more than 100 ennemis with 10 gun. That is not the way for this traits

                                                      • Anonymous

Just a thought, but may have the same properties as Exploiter? I haven't achieved it yet, and I just broken the chain if the below applies and still have not received the trait (joined another party in public). I was able to Re-roll multiple times to farm for the random dungeons, but all done on solo. If this is the case with the criteria stated in the comments: 1) has to be in one playthrough (* I was able to re-roll my campaign *) 2) joining friends or public games resets progress(! thats why I did not have that trait !) 3) resting or warping to other areas will NOT reset progress so if you want it, play the game solo until you have it. It can be done within 30-60 minutes of casual play (given that you are shooting each enemy in the head)

                                                        • Anonymous

I just got this and I'm 100% sure it's not in one campaign or whit 10 weapons. What I did a lot for last 1h was to shoot one weapon empty on enemy and finishing it of whit other gun. I'm pretty sure that's how you get this but not 100% sure.

                                                          • Anonymous

I farmed a total of 150 root summoner attack spawns on the Shotgun, AR, Magnum, Crossbow, Sporebloom, Particle Accelerator, Ruin, Beam Rifle, Repulsor, and Scar of the Jungle God. This trait is bugged somehow or very unclear on how to get. My friend got his with using 4 weapons and Ive given multiple hours to what appears to be not the correct method.

                                                            • Anonymous

You DO NOT need to get 100 kills with 10 different guns each in the same campaign. I just unlocked this trait using the SMG for the first time in a new campaign. I just started a new campaign because I was farming for the bandit set and I've only used 4 guns this campaign Hunting Pistol / SMG & Ruin / Devastator. I am not saying that the 100 kills on 10 guns each part is incorrect I am only saying that the same campaign part is wrong. I believe that it's more important to swap weapons between kills in gunfights because that's what I was doing naturally and I unlocked this without trying.

                                                              • Anonymous

After countless hours of grinding, I finally got this perk. TL:DR: Pretty sure you have to get 100 kills with 10 different GUNS (not melee), in ONE campaign (without rerolling). Throughout my ~55 hours of gameplay on my main character, there's almost no way that I hadn't gotten at least 100 kills on, say, five different weapons. I used a good few different weapons. So I figured "Okay, I'll throw on some lesser-used weapons and grind out some kills with them while I try to get what I'm missing on Earth." I didn't count how many kills, but it was pretty obvious that I was getting over 100 on each of them, and I used about 6 or 7 different guns on my speedruns through Earth (different gun each time, going through all side dungeons/killing everything on the way). It baffled me that I hadn't gotten the perk by that point, because I'd spent so much time doing it, and I had the killcounts from my previous runs. So I decided to seriously test it. Rerolled, found the dungeon with the Root Hearts in the sewers, and just kept grinding out kills on the trash mobs that spawned (eventually they stop spawning, just sit at the checkpoint and they'll resume). I counted each kill, up to 110 on each weapon (to make sure I didn't miscount by a few). Many of them, I was 100% sure that I already got 100+ kills with on previous runs, and one of the weapons I used was melee. So by the time I got the trait, I had 11 weapons with 110 kills on them. I used the melee weapon BEFORE the 11th one so it's fair to assume that melee doesn't count toward it, especially since swapping has nothing to do with melee. Since I needed to repeat the kills on my previously-used guns, it's fair to assume that all of the kills need to be made in one campaign run without rerolling. Maybe an excessive write-up but I figured it might help other people with similar problems, and help to solidify EXACTLY how the trait is obtained.

                                                                • Anonymous

Currently at 120+ kills on 14 guns, still don't have it. Can you farm the kills in a boss dungeon or does that not count?
