Exploiter is a Trait in Remnant: From the AshesTraits are special passive abilities tied to character progression. They provide a large variety of effects including increasing core stats, improving offensive and defensive capabilities or providing quality of life upgrades. Traits are the key to building a character in a player's preferred playstyle, allowing them to branch off from their chosen Archetype. Traits are obtained by performing certain feats, defeating certain enemies or completing objectives and quests. Each Trait can be ranked up to Level 20, further improving their effects.

You got one shot at this, kid, so don't just hit it-hit it hard.

Remnant Exploiter Trait Effect Information

The Exploiter Trait increases damage dealt to enemy Weak Spots by +1% per Trait Point invested, up to a maximum of +20% Weak Spot Damage at Level 20.

Weak Spots are an important mechanic in Remnant's combat. Most enemies have Weak Spots on their bodies which players can aim for to deal vastly increased damage. This is typically the head for humanoid opponents, but varies from enemy to enemy. Some enemy Weak Spots are only vulnerable for a limited period, particularly those of Bosses.

At the base level, Weak Spot Hits deal 200% increased damage (220% with maxed Exploiter) and are indicated with red damage numbers. Weak Spot hits can also crit, stacking multiplicatively with the Critical Damage stat. Standard Crits deal 150% bonus damage (175% with maxed Kingslayer) and are indicated with yellow damage numbers. Critical Weak Spot hits are indicated with bold red numbers and can deal up to 385% bonus damage from Traits alone.

Exploiter will typically be unlocked before Executioner and Kingslayer, but will truly shine once both other traits are maxed out.

How to Obtain Exploiter in Remnant: From the Ashes

The Exploiter Trait can be unlocked as follows:

  • Acquired by defeating 150 enemies with Weak Spot damage. This can typically be accomplished within a few hours, especially on Earth where most enemies have their weak spots on the head.
  • The Hunting Rifle is an excellent choice for dealing Weak Spot damage due to its superior range and accuracy compared to most other early game weapons, but the Coach Gun can also be used for more DPS, albeit at a shorter range.

Remnant: From the Ashes Exploiter Notes & Tips

  • Additional Notes for the Exploiter Trait go here.
  • All Traits can be ranked up by spending Trait Points on them. Trait Points are acquired primarily by obtaining Experience Points and leveling up. Every 1,500 Experience Points obtained grants 1 Trait Point.
  • Trait Points can also be acquired by finding and picking up Tomes of Knowledge which randomly spawn in the major locations of each world.
  • Traits can be reset by using an Orb of Undoing, acquired at the end of main Campaign. After completing the Campaign, these orbs can then be purchased from Reggie in Ward 13 for 2,500 Scrap apiece.

Does hitting a weakspot count as a critical hit for critical hit damage bonuses like the Kingslayer trait or to trigger the radiant set ability?

      • Anonymous

Had no trait, played for 60+ hours and unlocked everything in the game. So out of frustration I launched cheatengine to figure that***** out once and for all. This is first time that tool helped me understand the game but not fool around with it. Played around with hidden counter, here is what I've found: 1) has to be in one playthrough 2) joining friends or public games resets progress(! thats why I did not have that trait !) 3) resting or warping to other areas will not reset progress so if you want it, play the game solo until you have it. It can be done within 30-60 minutes of casual play (given that you are shooting each enemy in the head)

There is also an instance if you get the Bandit boss on Earth where you can get it. One of you has to have the pocket watch and the other doesn't. The boss will make you fight and the host will have to kill the other in order to get the trait and it'll skip the boss fight.

Finally got this damned thing. Reset my world did 150 weak spot kills all in one session. Never resting at checkpoints. May have been overkill but got it!!

Been playing for a while, finally got mine. I received it after doing 3 consecutive headshots for a total of 1500 damage (Hunting Pistol). Still unsure of what unlocked it.
