I think the reason why people sleep on this set is because it isn't as 'meta' as, say the Lab armor or Leto's set because unlike those two, the carapace set doesn't excel at one thing (not hyper defensive like Leto or super strong Mod wise like Lab), but is flexible enough to do just about anything. Want a tank build? Carapace's Harden would do wonders even on higher difficulties. Focusing on damage, shooty/mod wise? 15% bonus damage is always welcome, no matter how small. Overall, very good set.

This with no helment & Daredevil's Charm = Bad M/F 40% bonus to any damage. plus the armor.."impress your friends today"

I love this set! Reliable damage bonus to all types, more tankiness on the first hit than even Leto's set, and losing the damage reduction isn't so bad on high difficulties where you'll die after just a few hits anyways. It's not the easiest set to use because 15s is a long time, but I really don't see it enough in public lobbies.

OMG this with Storm Amulet and elemental damage ring and any ranged bonus ring with Curse of the Jungle God or Eye of the Storm .. You get unstoppable Damage of over 40% and it is constant never lose the damage buff ever

I wish it were "Every 5 s, gain a stack up to a maximum of 3. Stacks increase incoming damage by 5% and increase outgoing damage by 5%. 1 stack is lost on taking damage."

When wearing full Carapace set, all damage you do is increased by 15%.
After 15 seconds of not receiving damage, you get 3 stacks (of hardened armour).
3 stacks is the maximum amount of stacks you can have.
As long as you have at least 1 stack, damage you receive is reduced by 25%.
Every time you receive damage, you lose 1 stack.
Once you lose all 3 stacks, the damage you receive is no longer reduced and instead you get 30% movement speed boost for 5 seconds.

The last part says "increases all damage from all sources by 5% per piece (15% if you have the set). I'm confused. So I get additional 15% of pain while the set provides 25% reduction per piece (75% as a set) which leavus us with 60% reduction? O_o

Now, correct me if I am reading this wrong, but it looks like you have to avoid damage for 45 seconds to get the full bonus of this armor, which appears to be 75%? Tbh I feel like the void set is just better, it's bonus is smaller but it is consistent, whereas this armor will just give a wearer 15% bonus damage 5 seconds after taking 3 hits.

Agh this armor. You may want to hold on turning in any of the hardened carapace before getting all 3 shells (it's now stackable since update); otherwise the chances of getting any more black beetles to spawn will plummet! I experience this mistake of only getting 2 armor pieces, and now the game only spawns red beetles. This is my 4th day running the easiest mode, skipping the mobs and bosses, and all i'm getting are red beetles.

Try using this with storm caller and howlers, then you'll have a legit tank build that can take apocalypse difficulty

3.5 seconds is too short and pretty damn useless. Akari set gives 10 secs of bonus speed and Carapace only gives 3.5 secs plus the penalties. This armor set needs an overhaul.

Honestly can't see any practical use for this armor. On low diffculties usual armor defend well. On high the incoming damage is far beyond its reduction to be helpful

Get infected with the parasite (get grabbed by the enemies with the glowing green pustules on them), then go to Mar'Gosh's Lair. Talk to Mar'Gosh about the colony, there you can buy the armor. Each piece of the armor set requires a hardened carapace, which can be obtained by killing a beetle in the dungeon leading up to Mar'Gosh. The beetle is in an open area with light shining from the ceiling. Sneak up on in before you shoot it or it will run and hide.
